I’m playing around with emailing slowly and it means, on the email front at least, that I am deliberately letting things break. A lot of messages don’t get answered in time, and I miss opportunities. People get frustrated with me. I risk looking “unprofessional.”
In the process of pursuing new ways of working, it means you’re going to build new habits. Building new habits isn’t always a piece of cake: sometimes it’s rusty, weird, and feels uncomfortable.
If you want things to stay the same, then keep doing exactly what you’re doing.
If you want to get new results, you have to try new things.
This means things might break.
It’s a risk I’m willing to take.
