Today, tonight, this afternoon: get into bed.

Stop doing what you’re doing.

Even if you don’t feel tired, get into bed earlier than you typically do.

Tomorrow will be better for it. Today will be better for it.

Now will be better for it.

Even if you read for a bit at first, chances are you’ll still go to sleep earlier.

Tonight you try to sleep.

The first step?

Go get into bed. 

That’s it.

 

PS. I know this isn’t possible for everyone. But if it is, if you’re struggling, if your stress level is overwhelming, if you’re feeling wrecked—get some extra sleep. Sometimes I just need to be in bed for an extra two hours, even if I’m not actually sleeping, and it helps. Rest is good for the body and the soul.
